Soothe Me Sunday…

Posted by wenchwit on February 25, 2008

We last left our heroine swooning over 2 dozen long-stemmed roses. Update: They are dead, but the thought was still nice.

I really have no time for this today, but I am doing it just the same.

Bro was really sick. He is better.

Julie has been sick. She is better.

I am sick, but in ways other than physical, and that makes ME better.

A month until vacation. A month…

From the frozen midwest to the sunny climes of Austin, Texas, where I heard you can rent people to do your bidding for little or nothing. Texas…home of Willie Nelson and (ahem) unfortunately…the “Bush” brigade.

Getting a new gadget for my upcoming even-more-older-than-dirt birthday. A StressEraser. All about biofeedback and proper breathing and such. Might even teach me to sleep. If only it could take out the garbage, all would be right in my pathetically small world. Well…almost…loading the dishwasher and writing out the checks for bills would be a cool thing too.

Life goes on. I have an afternoon engagement with the girls, mom and sister. Beats staring at the walls.

Downloaded some (old) new music that I didn’t have in my growing collection. Bryan Adams. He’s delicious behind the microphone.

Got some new chick flicks for an upcoming estrogen fest where many women will gather and drool over the babes of the silver screen. We do that too; we just don’t rearrange our parts when we do.

Off to shave the pertinent parts, part the hair, pamper the skin and get on with it.

Wench out.

Might be like finding a needle in a haystack, but I think I found at least one…

At The Tone, The Time Will Be…

Posted by wenchwit on February 9, 2008

I’m pretty sure I am not the only one who feels harrassed by telemarketers, wrong number calls, withheld numbers, unknown names and unknown numbers. I have been fighting this battle for a while, finally refusing to give in to morbid curiosity when a private call comes through. How dare they interrupt my privacy with a private call. A pox on them. Do not call is about as worthless as tits on a boar.

So, today, in a flash of brilliance, I went through my caller ID on all the phones in my house. Henceforth, the blocked numbers and private calls will be told to unblock the number and try the call again. All of the 800, 877, 866, and various other cystic and nefarious bottom feeders will be greeted with the time and temperature from lovely downtown Valparaiso, Indiana, a college town about 10 miles southwest. Unfortunately, in my zeal, I accidentally forwarded ALL calls to time and temperature. I additionally turned on a fax machine for my “other” phone line. After I called a family member, I discovered my error and fixed it, but I have to tell you, it was enormously, refreshingly peaceful in my house for a few hours….not a ring, as this digital phone system routes the calls to time and temperature without disturbing my peace. Another beautiful thing…I can continue to add ne’er do wells as they invade my privacy and keep them out of my hair throughout eternity.

Ahhhhhhhh….
