Thankful…

My birthday celebration turned out to be VERY NICE and I raked in several trinkets. I got several lovely cards, a string of very nice pearls, a lovely floral arrangement (pink and purple tulips), some cash, a gift certificate from Amazon, a laptop and laser printer, a Swiffer (which I desperately needed), a homemade from-scratch cake, and some very nice phone calls. Even though I balked at formal dinner gatherings, I did have dinner with my grandsons and daughter (compliments of my daughter) and, all in all, it was a low-key weekend, which I desperately needed.
The weather yesterday, however, was utter shit. We went from a balmy 60 degrees to off and on internet and power, tornado warnings and AWESOME winds, rain that seemed as though it would never stop, and my back yard is now a pool of standing water…my sister says the end is near…the Mayan calendar ends in 2012. My brother says it does not apply to him since he is not Mayan. I prefer to think along those lines.
